Saskatchewan RCMP say that it has charged a Glen Ewen woman after a vehicle fire was reported – and it was discovered that a false police report had been submitted. On April 20, Carnduff RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle. Later in the day, the detachment received a report of a vehicle on fire northeast of the community of Outram, Sask. An investigation determined it was the vehicle reported as stolen. However, more investigation determined the vehicle had not been stolen and the initial report to police was false. The fire was determined to be suspicious in nature as a result. On April 25, Carnduff RCMP arrested a 29-year-old woman from Glen Ewen. She faces three total charges – which include arson for fraudulent purpose, fraud over $5,000 and one count of public mischief. The accused is scheduled to appear in Estevan provincial court on June 9. The investigation continues. RCMP believe there may be another “individual or individuals” involved. “If you have any information about this incident – or saw any suspicious activity in or around the rural area northeast of Outram on April 20 – please report it to police,” the RCMP said in the announcement. Tips can be submitted to Carnduff RCMP at 310-RCMP or can submitted anonymously to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
