The man accused of first-degree murder in Regina’s third homicide of 2025 made his first appearance in provincial court Monday. Thirty-three-year-old Keli Stonechild appeared over the phone as Judge Lane Wiegers read him his charge. Stonechild’s charge stems from an incident east of Regina’s downtown on Thursday, April 24. The victim was found on the 800 block of Victoria Avenue at around 5:30 a.m. suffering from serious injuries. He died a short time later. The victim’s name is not being released at the request of the family. A large portion of Victoria Avenue was blocked off to drivers as police began their investigation. Stonechild’s matter was adjourned till Friday, May 2, as he awaits assistance from legal aid.
