Gatineau police say one of their officers is facing an impaired driving charge following an incident Monday. Police say officers were responding to a disturbance call when they stopped a fellow officer in his personal vehicle. The officer was off duty at the time, as he had been suspended with pay due to a prior arrest. Police did not name him, nor specify why he had previously been arrested. Officers at the scene suspected the man was intoxicated and so, to ensure impartiality, took him to the Sûreté du Québec police station to undergo a breath test. “The results indicated that he exceeded the legal limit of 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood,” Gatineau police said in a news release in French. He was released on a promise to appear in court. Gatineau police say the Ministry of Public Security was informed of the allegations against the officer.
