A grass fire near Melville is causing concern as smoke in the area is affecting visibility for drivers.

According to Melville RCMP, emergency crews are responding to a fire located on Westview Road, around one kilometre west of the community – near the junction of Highway 47 and Highway 10.

Officers on the scene have reported near zero visibility in some areas.

“If you are driving in the area, please slow down and follow the instructions of emergency personnel on scene,” RCMP said in the update. “Motorists should expect delays.”
