Regina police have charged an 18-year-old man after he allegedly fled police Monday morning. Around 6:45 a.m., police were called to the area of Albert Street and 25th Avenue after a vehicle was reported to be swerving and hitting curbs while traveling in the area. When police arrived, the vehicle was no longer in the area. Investigators later found the vehicle near Regency Crescent and 3rd Avenue North and attempted a traffic stop. The lone occupant drove erratically for a short distance before crashing into a fence on the 2900 block of Avonhurst Drive. Officers did not pursue the vehicle. The suspect fled on foot through a creek and residential area before hiding under a vehicle. A Regina Police Service canine unit tracked the suspect, who was taken into custody without further incident on the 600 block of Robinson Street. The suspect was charged with evading police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, obstructing a peace officer, hit and run and breaching a curfew. He will make his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court, with a future court date to be set.
