A man has been charged with threatening employees with a weapon while allegedly stealing from a Regina business. Officers were called to a report of a weapons offence at a business in the 1300 block of Broadway Avenue Sunday around 6 p.m. According to an update from the Regina Police Service (RPS) on Tuesday, the caller reported a man had gone into the business, grabbed several grocery items and tried to leave the store without paying. The man allegedly threatened the employees with a knife when they approached him. RPS say he then left the business on foot. Officers found the man a short distance away, where he was taken into custody without further incident. Following his arrest, police say they found a knife. The suspect, a 37-year-old man, is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, shoplifting under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on July 20.
